Food & Consumables Coach

Position Summary

Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates, touring stores, and providing feedback. Communicates and collaborates with all levels of associates regarding store operations and technology business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Introduces and leads company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions and communicate objectives effectively.

• Model and demonstrate exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following the One Best Way (OBW) service model and managing customer service initiatives.
• Drive the financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating profit/loss statements, managing budgeting and forecasting, controlling expenses, and ensuring effective merchandise presentation.
• Supervise and develop hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, providing recognition, and promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace.
• Coordinate and oversee job-related activities and assignments, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and support plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, support the Open Door Policy, and provide guidance on applying these policies in business processes.
• Promote a culture of belonging by building high‑performing teams, embracing diversity, and creating opportunities for all associates to thrive.
• Act with integrity, maintain the highest standards of ethics and compliance, and support our culture of sustainability and community impact.
• Serve customers and members by delivering results, putting the customer first, adapting to their shopping preferences, and applying business models such as EDLP and EDLC.
• Strive for excellence by displaying curiosity, taking calculated risks, encouraging learning from mistakes, and adopting new technologies.

• 2 years of college coursework; or 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; or 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Successful completion of all required job‑training and assessments (e.g., Academy trainings, Open Door trainings).
• For firearms‑selling facilities, a valid firearms‑specific Criminal Background Check and Firearms Authorized Training.

• Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership or equivalent.
• Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership.
• Experience supervising 5 or more direct reports with responsibility for performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.

Annual salary range: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00. Additional compensation may include annual or quarterly performance bonuses, Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location, and a State Pay Differential to meet legislative requirements.
