Northeast Regional Aviation Manager

Air Methods is seeking an experienced aviation leader with part 135 and Helicopter pilot experience to oversee and support aviation operations throughout North East region.

Candidates should possess strong knowledge of regional geography, weather challenges, HEMS relationships, and the operational demands.

The Regional Aviation Manager (RAM) is expected to maintain aircraft qualifications and operational currency while supporting frontline operations through occasional flight duty assignments as needed. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience within Part 135 operations, the ability to build strong relationships across operational teams, and a commitment to safety, accountability, and service excellence.

Responsible for supporting the organization, direction and administration tasks assigned within a regional area in relationship to overseeing aviation activities and personnel. Specific areas of focus are safety and training. Responsible for daily aviation duties. May be required to work with other field management including regional leadership, maintenance, and clinical to ensure a coordinated and efficient response to service requests.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

• Ensure all operations within region are compliant with regulations, operations specifications and General Operations Manual.
• Participates as a member of Air Methods' management team to promote a successful operation.
• Researches and reports to Director of Operations on FRx budget/actual variances
• Ensures completion of aviation management portions of Base Startup, Closure and Movement Manual.
• Ensures that revisions for the Operations Manual and Operations Specifications are distributed and revised as required and the appropriate Publications Verification Form(s) are completed and submitted to the certificate holder.
• Provides tactical management of the integration of aircraft, assuring availability and trained pilots in support of operational requirements.
• Delegate’s aviation field logistical support to Area Manager.
• Attends or delegates attendance to fleet status teleconferences (KPI Dashboard).
• Coordinates pilot training in conjunction with the Pilot Training team for the area.
• Coordinates with Regional Safety Director on safety related issues while providing technical and professional assistance to eliminate or control unsafe behaviors in coordination with Area Manager.
• Assists in the Investigation of aviation mishaps and in performing a root cause analysis upon request.
• Submits all required reporting regarding flight personnel to the Regional Aviation Director.
• Monitors the behaviors and performance of aviation personnel to assure they comply with Air Methods' policies and procedures.
• Ensures that the 411 system is being utilized by pilots.
• Responsible to ensure audit deficiencies and compliance issues found in their area of responsibility are corrected.
• Coordinates with Regional Clinical Managers to schedule and conduct medical crew member and communication specialist initial and recurrent training. Monitor crew member Computer Training System (CTS) compliance. Conduct Air Medical Resource Management training.
• Ensure in-service training for aviation and medical personnel occurs prior to placing a back-up aircraft back in service and training records are accurate.
• Responsible for conducting or coordinating ferry and MOC flights.
• Monitors and responds to Accidental, Incident, Damage, Malfunction, Operations Report (AIDMOR) submissions.
• Coordinates with the Regional Maintenance Director/Manager on timely correction of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies impacting maintenance activities informing Area Manager.
