Material Handler, General Labor

SUMMARY
Ship, receive, transport and store materials and finished goods. Complete simple shipping/receiving documents. Maintain accurate inventory records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES LIFT OPERATION- Operate a variety of lift trucks to move and store materials and finished goods as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance of lifts and record daily inspection of equipment.
- Determine priorities based on customer needs.
- Pull and stage daily shipments accurately.
- Prepare products for transport by banding and/or stretch wrapping.
- Load and unload trucks, including trailer inspection, and record findings.
- Process simple shipping documents as required by customers.
- Receive raw materials in ERP system, including inspections and verifications necessary.
- Transport materials, finished products and packaging materials into/out of warehouse locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory using ERP and barcoding system.
- Deliver supplies to other departments as needed.
- Arrange, perform, and record cycle count.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly warehouse.
- Report damage to equipment and warehouse facility to Warehouse Supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- All employees are required to understand and follow all Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures.
- Employees are responsible for reporting problems with the QFSMS to a supervisor or manager.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years or more of related experience is required.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple documents such as safety rules, work instructions and memos.
- Ability to write simple information on department forms for accountability.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization as needed.
- Ability to add, subtract and multiply using whole numbers.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.
- Ability to identify and correct problems.
- Ability to enter data and maintain bar coding and computerized inventory system and email.
- Run basic reports and process transit paperwork.
- Ability to obtain and maintain lift licenses for required warehouse equipment.
The employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. several feet and occasionally lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
from pallet to waist height. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Exposure to cold or high temperatures may occur. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is moderate. Personal protective equipment required includes safety glasses, hearing protection, hair nets, gloves, and, if applicable, beard nets.
