CNC Machinist - Afternoon Shift Operations

Afternoon 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM - Schedule:
Monday to Friday - Compensation:
Up to $30/hour (DOE) + $1.25/hour shift premium while on afternoon shift
As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, editing code and operating CNC machines—primarily large gantry style mills and lathes—to produce high-quality molds that meet precise specifications. Your expertise will ensure smooth production flows, optimal machine performance, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine machining processes and requirements
- Program CNC machines: write, verify, and optimize G-code programs using industry-standard software for precision manufacturing
- Machine setup & tool changes: configure CNC machinery (5-axis setups), including tooling and fixturing, to meet tight tolerances on large-scale components
- Operate and monitor machines: oversee machining processes, troubleshoot issues promptly, and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
- Routine maintenance: perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on CNC equipment to ensure longevity and peak performance
- Collaborate and improve: work closely with engineering teams to refine processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity
Required:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a CNC machinist in a precision manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints
- Strong proficiency in G-code programming and CNC machine operation
- Experience with various CNC equipment, including mills, lathes, and especially large gantry-style machines
- Skilled in setup, calibration, and tooling changeovers, including 5-axis machining
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine or process issues efficiently
Preferred:
- Certifications in CNC machining or related fields
- Experience with CAD/CAM software
- Familiarity with large-scale, low-volume, job-specific machining projects
- Knowledge of quality control and inspection techniques using measurement tools
