We’ve been retained by a large building materials manufacturer to identify a Plant Manager for their Inwood, WV facility (approximately 1.5 hours northwest of Washington, DC). This is a highly visible leadership opportunity within a $100M, 24/7 operation with roughly 225–250 employees. The organization is seeking a leader who is motivated to go beyond day-to-day management—someone eager to drive impact, elevate performance, and position themselves for broader leadership opportunities over time.
PositionSummary
As Plant Manager, you will lead all aspects of a continuous manufacturing operation running 24/7/365. You will be responsible for driving a culture centered on safety, employee engagement, quality, and operational excellence. This role requires a hands-on, servant leader who can build strong teams, foster accountability, and implement world-class manufacturing practices. You will play a critical role in achieving strategic objectives by improving efficiency, sustaining high performance standards, and cultivating a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Culture- Lead all plant operations with a strong emphasis on employee safety and engagement
- Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement
- Develop, coach, and mentor high-performing teams; drive succession planning
- Champion a servant leadership approach with strong floor presence
- Partner cross-functionally (HR, Marketing, etc.) to strengthen employer brand and community presence
- Establish and maintain a zero-incident safety culture
- Lead safety initiatives, audits, and compliance with all regulatory standards
- Drive continuous improvement in safety metrics through proactive programs
- Own plant performance, including OEE, output, and cost management
- Manage plant-level P&L and budgeting
- Identify and execute cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and world-class manufacturing practices
- Lead operational improvement initiatives and plant optimization strategies
- Promote innovation and employee-driven improvement efforts
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (advanced degree preferred)
- 5–10+ years of leadership in fast-paced manufacturing environments
- Experience in heavy industrial, building materials, or continuous flow manufacturing
- Proven track record with Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma methodologies
- Demonstrated success leading operational turnarounds and performance improvements
- Experience managing large teams (75+ employees) and full plant P&L ownership
