Job Summary

This position provides assembly support for the Operations and supports the new product introduction (NPI) process. The role requires knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Responsibilities include packing, assembly, prep, build line, and testing.

Essential Functions
  • Perform assigned manufacturing functions to support production while maintaining cost objectives and meeting quality standards.
  • Prep all components based on production aids and/or other aids.
  • Place assembled boards in packing boxes per work instructions.
  • Assemble electrical or electronic systems and support structures; install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and assembly casings using rivets, bolts, soldering, and micro‑welding equipment.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electronic component parts to correct defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Install hardware on boards, perform taping, masking, and component installation, ensuring proper quality after the board has undergone applicable processes.
  • Set up each kit for any given build line as indicated by the production aids/work instructions.
  • Pull Kan Ban parts, refill bins on the build line, requisition parts to fill shortages, and use the AS400 computer system for component identification and polarity checks.
  • Check solder quality, perform necessary repairs, read and interpret drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and reports to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
  • Inspect and test products throughout manufacturing to ensure quality is maintained.
  • Collaborate with engineering, managers, supervisors, and leads to plan and review work activities and resolve NPI process issues.
    • Seek clarification on drawings or documents as needed.
    • Conduct routine root cause analysis and troubleshooting on the production line to improve processes efficiently and cost‑effectively.
Other Functions
  • Operate various assembly equipment to support the production process.
  • Perform additional duties that directly or indirectly support the Operations department.
Supervision Given/Received

This position does not have any supervision responsibility and is supervised by a designated lead and supervisor or another designee determined by the Manager of Manufacturing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to write and understand routine reports, follow oral and written instructions, and speak effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups of people and handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise, tact, and diplomacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma training.
  • IPC Certification.
  • Experience in mechanical or electronic assembly.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment, email, Internet, word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Minimum one year of experience in surface‑mount soldering or hand soldering.
  • Experience in contract manufacturing and EMS industry, particularly supporting an offshore manufacturing facility.
Physical Demands

The employee regularly sits, uses hands and fingers, handles or feels objects, talks, hears, and sees. Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, or reaching with hands and arms are required. The environment is fast‑paced, time‑pressured, and requires accuracy.

Work Environment

The employee may work near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Noise levels are typically moderate. The environment is quiet in a typical open cubicle setting with occasional louder areas.
