Manufacturing ​/ Production Operator, Machine Operator

The plant operator is responsible for safely operating the control board, loading rack, or a specific area in the plant and having familiarity with all safety showers, pumps, lines/pipes, compressors, tanks, valves, instruments, unit process, loading of material, etc. in their unit or area. The operator is responsible for maintaining excellent housekeeping in their area. The operator continuously communicates with the shift supervisor and fellow operators, maintenance personnel and members of Management via face-to-face interaction, handheld radio, phone or email regarding plant performance, maintenance, product loading, process changes or disruptions.

Job responsibilities include:

• Conduct all work activities in compliance with Federal and State laws and Company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Follow specific instructions while maintaining acceptable established standards of work performance and conduct.
• Demonstrate the necessary and consistent energy, as well as acceptable mental and physical dexterity, for the satisfactory completion of the principal accountabilities as summarized below.
• Exhibit acceptable interpersonal skills and the continuous ability to work in and promote a team-oriented environment.
• Performs Operator functions of observing operation of equipment and auxiliaries, removes and disposes of spent chemicals and containers, makes equipment adjustments, removes waste material, starts and stops equipment, prepares for and makes material transfers, opens and closes valves, vessels, flushes lines and equipment as directed, following specified procedures. Transports and stores process by-products.
• Collects samples as required and runs routine tests as prescribed.
• Notifies supervision of malfunctioning equipment or other operating irregularities. Works in cooperation with other plant personnel to correct.
• Communicates and cooperates with the Control Room Operator, Logistics, and Maintenance as required.
• Operates manufacturing equipment automatically or manually as required, make operating decisions and adjustments based on information conveyed by instruments, signals, reports, or instructions from the Control Room Operator or Operations Supervision.
• Lubricates, cleans, and unplugs lines and equipment; makes minor equipment adjustments.
• Maintains and reviews log of shift activities (written and/or electronic) Prepares required reports.
• Keeps the work area clean, orderly and in safe condition.
• Operates miscellaneous handling equipment as required.
• Participates in plant training programs to maintain operating skills and safe work practices. Assists in training others as required.
• Make periodic tour of facilities, reporting corrective actions taken or documenting the need for corrective action if that operator cannot make the correction.
• Communicate and coordinate with other plant personnel as required.
• Input data to maintenance management systems to issue work orders.
• Follow permit preparation procedures.
• Perform lock-out/tag-out as necessary.
• Report incidents through the TER process.
• Perform any other job responsibilities and duties as assigned by Management.

• Minimum of 2 years of accredited training in process technology or similar field
• Experience working in chemical or manufacturing environment preferred
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Proficient with computers
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment and process failures
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
• Ability to work in 24/7 operational environment, shift rotations, and call outs
