Position SummaryWe are seeking Wound Care Nurse Practitioners to provide wound services to patients residing in long‑term care facilities.
WOUND NPROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide wound care services for long‑term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities.
- Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances, in accordance with WV Law.
- Order, review, and follow up with treatments and diagnostic testing.
- Communicate with nursing home staff on a regular basis and as needed to discuss changes in condition and/or the care plan.
- Collaborate with the primary care physician.
- Current, unrestricted NP license in the state of West Virginia.
- Board Certification.
- DEA licensure (optional).
- Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
- Clinical background in wound care; including chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds.
- Comfortable diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous and mixed‑etiology wounds or Kennedy ulcers.
- Comfortable staging pressure injuries according to the NPIAP.
- Familiar with wound care best practices and advanced wound care products: collagen, alginate, foams, silver, etc.
- Experience with wound vacs and other DME such as pressure‑relieving/reducing devices.
- Strong preference for existing wound certification or openness to getting certified.
- Experience working in a long‑term care setting.
- Ability to work with an EMR.
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.
- Continuing education credits.
- Recertification reimbursement.
- Malpractice insurance coverage.
