Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient‑centered care in the Surgical Trauma ICU. The RN works in collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, using nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The role advocates for patients, families, and caregivers and supports the organization’s vision and mission.
Responsibilities- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions ordered by medical providers.
- Document administration of care in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex terminology for complete understanding.
- Educate on non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
- Prepare patients and families for future self‑management.
- Manage evidence‑based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to exceed quality measures and enhance patient care.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes recovery.
- Registered Nurse with an Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or higher.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- NIH Stroke Scale certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
