Job Description
The Clinical Nursing Supervisor provides leadership and operational oversight in accordance with organizational and departmental standards, policies, and goals, and actively participates in the hospital’s Performance Improvement (PI) process to support quality and patient safety initiatives. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of nursing care, and for supporting the development and maintenance of nursing standards for patient care.
The Nursing Supervisor provides day‑to‑day operational leadership, ensuring effective patient flow, a positive patient experience, and adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements. The role supports appropriate staffing alignment and resource utilization to meet patient care needs safely and efficiently.
The Nursing Supervisor oversees staff management activities, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, coaching, counseling, and evaluation of associates. The role also assesses staff professional growth, identifies educational needs, and coordinates internal and external resources to support competency, education, and ongoing development, while promoting efficient use of staffing resources.
In collaboration with the Nursing Director, this position supports departmental operations and strategic initiatives, including participation in planning efforts, process improvement, and program development. The Nursing Supervisor contributes to budget stewardship through monitoring resource utilization and supporting staffing and operational decisions that align with financial and organizational goals. The Nursing Supervisor participates in system and organizational collaboratives to share best practices, promote standardization, and improve outcomes across the organization.

EducationBachelors Nursing (BSN) required.
ExperienceTwo years clinical experience in respective department is preferred.
Certification & LicensureWest Virginia Registered Nurse License required. Registered Nurse must hold either:
- A current multistate (compact) RN license issued by the nurse’s state of residency (RNs have 60 days after relocating to a new state to apply for a multistate (compact) RN license in their new state of residency).
- A current single‑state RN license issued by Virginia and/or West Virginia, as applicable based on the location(s) where the Registered Nurse will be providing services.
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) – AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
ACLS required within 120 days of hire.
QualificationsExcellent communication skills required.
