Summers County Schools – Summer Licensed Practical Nurse
Reports to:
Director in Charge of School Nurses/Certified School Nurse. Classification:
Service. FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt. Employment Term: 07/02/2026 through 08/03/2026 (excluding July 3, Independence Day Observed, and other declared holidays or state of emergencies).
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director in charge of school nurses or a designee in accordance with Summers County Board of Education Guide to Performance Evaluation for Service Personnel and West Virginia State Code.
Job Summary"Licensed Practical Nurse" means a nurse licensed by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses and employed to work in a public school under the supervision of a certified school nurse.
Qualification Requirements- Experience in working with children who have health care problems.
- Demonstrate appropriate safety, hygiene, and health standards.
- Demonstrate safety of work area.
- Demonstrate adherence to schedules; being punctual; dependability.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adjusting to change.
- Demonstrate courtesy and tactfulness in interpersonal relations.
- Demonstrate ability to use good judgement and make good decisions, understanding and implementing responsibilities.
- Criminal background history check of new applicants for licensure as per WV Code 18A-3-10.
- Must hold a valid license from the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.
- Current CPR & First Aid certification.
- Ability to perform duties in full compliance with state and county requirements and SCBOE policies.
