Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multi-state Licensed Practical Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in an outpatient medical office setting.
• Use standards of care and practice to guide care delivery.
• Accurately and safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medications as ordered.
• Consult with the provider or registered nurse for guidance in nursing care, as necessary.
• Obtain instruction and supervision as needed from the provider or registered nurse when implementing nursing technique or practices.
• Perform designated therapeutic procedures as needed.
• Accurately observe, record, and report all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress to the provider in a timely manner.
• Assist providers and the registered nurse with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
• Utilize available supplies in a cost‑effective manner to help contain patient costs.
• Provide emotional support to patients and/or families.
• Participate in problem solving and decision making in the outpatient unit and act to ensure staffing and patient needs are met.
• Obtain medical information from patients. Take height, weight, blood pressure, and vital signs. Screen patients for chief complaint and pertinent health data. Record data and communicate to the physician.
• Work closely with office assistant and physician to facilitate patient clinic visits. Ensure the patient’s chart is available. Escort patients to and from exam rooms. Assist with scheduling when necessary.

• Heavy/Hard work:
  Strength and stamina to lift, move, stoop, reach, position patients, stand, walk; carry patients, materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs daily.

• Standard clinical environment with a very high volume of patients. Position is frequently exposed to blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, toxins, and chemicals.

Phlebotomy lab draws. Experience is a plus but on‑the‑job training may be offered.

40 hours per week (non‑exempt).
