Job Overview
Provide healthcare services under the supervision of a physician. Conduct complete physicals, provide treatment, counsel patients, and may prescribe medication. Maintain effective professional relationships and foster a culture of service excellence.
Minimum Qualifications- Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- National certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
- Basic Life Support Certification required; additional Advanced Life Support (ALS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training at the discretion of the department.
- Acute care, surgical, critical care, or trauma experience.
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as x-ray and POClab tests.
- Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
- Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
- Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
- Make diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
- Obtains, compiles, and records patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination utilizing the Meditech EMR.
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care & infection management.
- Prescribes therapy or medication – electronically when available.
- Educates, instructs and coordinates activities with the medical assistant(s) as needed during care and treatment of patients.
- Provides emergency support following established policies and procedures.
- Communicates with staff, medical staff, and administration to support operations.
- Near vision required.
- Normal hearing required.
- Manual dexterity required.
- Work requires strength and/or stamina: lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment.
- Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues, and maintaining a safe environment.
- Demonstrates competency in patient care assessment for each patient population served (Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric).
Scheduled weekly hours: 40 hours.
