The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”
The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
- Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs, resolving them proactively.
- Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical conditions, treatment plans, medications and possible side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
- Educate patients/families/caregivers about non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes, preparing them for future self‑management.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date (RN).
- Registered Nurse with an active license in the state of Texas.
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- 1+ years of experience working in an acute hospital Pediatric ER.
