Salary: $41.24 – $45.17 per hour;

West Virginia (state psychiatric hospital);
Schedule:
12‑hour rotating shifts (days, evenings, and nights) with rotating weekend coverage;
Assignment Length: 16-week contract with extension opportunities;

ShareSTAFF is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for inpatient psychiatric care assignments at a state hospital in West Virginia. As an LPN on our team, you will care for adult patients in an acute and long‑term inpatient psychiatric setting, working alongside an interdisciplinary treatment team to administer medications, monitor patient status, and provide direct nursing care to individuals living with serious mental illness.
Psychiatric care knowledge and experience is preferred. This is a 16‑week service agreement with the possibility of extension, subject to all West Virginia DHHR/DHF/OSA policies, procedures, and dress code requirements.

- Administer medications as prescribed by treating physicians and monitor patients for side effects and therapeutic response
- Monitor patient mental and physical status and report changes to the treatment team
- Assist with crisis intervention and de‑escalation support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric distress or behavioral emergencies
- Participate in Treatment Team Meetings and provide input on patient care under the direction of RNs and physicians
- Assist in overseeing the work of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) as directed
- Communicate with RNs and physicians regarding patient care needs
- Complete timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record per facility policies and procedures
- Respond to inquiries from family members, advocates, and other interested parties while maintaining HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
- Provide all nursing services in a manner consistent with the applicable standard of care
- Be willing to be mandated to meet the needs of the facility and the requirements of the State of West Virginia
- Required
- Active, current LPN license with no actions against the license (West Virginia licensure or applicable multistate license)
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
- Current First Aid certification from the American Heart Association
- Willingness to work 12‑hour rotating shifts, including weekend coverage
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime/mandated shifts as needed by the facility
- Reliable and punctual attendance
- Compliance with State dress code and all West Virginia DHHR/DHF/OSA policies and procedures
- Preferred
- Psychiatric care knowledge and experience
- One or more years of experience in psychiatric nursing
- Experience in a state psychiatric hospital, forensic psychiatric, or geriatric psychiatric setting
- Crisis intervention training (CPI, PMAB, or equivalent de‑escalation certification)
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
