Job Summary
Works under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse rendering nursing care including medications and treatments to patients in a timely manner.

Nursing Assistants

• Provides direct patient care.
• Administers medications (PO, IM, IV PB) in a safe and timely manner. Accurately documents medication administration.
• Safeguards medications and narcotics.
• Starts and assists with the maintenance of IVs.
• Accurate documentation of care.
• Assists with patient education in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Assists with unit cleanliness.
• Assists with admission and discharge assessments.
• Respects patient privacy, rights, and values of individuals and provides care accordingly.
• Takes responsibility for providing care for a designated group of patients according to the care plan provided by the registered nurse.
• Reports observations and pertinent information to registered nurse; works closely and harmoniously with registered nurse.
• Assists in orienting new employees.
• Administers nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to hospital policies, procedures and philosophy.
• Completes all annual competencies.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned.
• Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
• Must be able to cross‑train to other units.
• Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
• Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration; attends unit meetings.
• Participates in quality improvement activities, including serving on quality improvement teams.
