Location: Kearneysville

This Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all quality control activities within production and the laboratory environment to ensure products meet internal specifications and customer requirements. This role leads quality personnel, drives continuous improvement, ensures compliance with applicable standards, and supports cross‑functional teams to resolve quality issues and reduce cost of poor quality.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Quality Operations:
    • Develop and maintain quality control plans, inspection instructions, and operator check sheets.
    • Ensure production operators have current specifications, control limits, and reference samples.
    • Perform and/or oversee laboratory testing to validate product compliance.
    • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Non‑Conformance & Corrective Action:
    • Investigate product non‑conformances and verify test results prior to escalation.
    • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Coordinate with Production to contain nonconforming product and prevent recurrence.
    • Ensure timely disposition of nonconforming materials (e.g., rework, scrap, downgrade).
    • In case of non‑compliance, verify test results prior to escalation to ensure accuracy. Coordinate with the shift supervisor or team lead to define corrective actions to restore product compliance within established specifications while minimizing cost impact.
    • Document and track corrective actions through closure.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:

    • Partner with Production and R&D to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
    • Communicate quality concerns, trends, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
    • Support new product development and raw material validation in collaboration with R&D.
    • Collaborate with the R&D team when persistent non‑conformities require technical changes, material adjustments, or exceed standard production parameters.
    • On a weekly basis, collaborate with the R&D team in TeMa North America on opportunities for improvement to ensure clear, actionable guidance is communicated to operators working on complex products.
    • Provide input to supervisors in order to support cost‑containment and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Schedule and lead monthly meetings with shift supervisors and upper management to identify corrective actions and drive process improvements.
  • Data & Reporting:
    • Maintain quality records and prepare Certificates of Analysis (COA) for customers.
    • Analyze quality data to identify trends, drive improvements, and reduce defects.
    • Develop and report key quality metrics (scrap, rework, customer complaints, etc.).
    • Investigate customer complaints and coordinate corrective actions to ensure timely and effective resolution.
    • Implement and monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods and track process capability where applicable.
  • Supplier & Incoming Quality:
    • Oversee incoming material inspections and supplier quality performance.
    • Escalate and document supplier non‑conformance issues.
  • Compliance & Systems:
    • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (UL, customer requirements, ISO if applicable).
    • Maintain documented procedures and support internal/external audits.
  • Training:
    • Train employees on quality standards, inspection methods, and procedures.
    • Promote a culture of quality and accountability across production teams.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises anywhere from 1‑4 employees within the quality department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Under the direction and guidance of HR, responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Has authority to stop production for quality concerns and to escalate issues to leadership as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quality Control Technician, and 2 years of supervisory experience.
