Our client is seeking a Laboratory Technician / Researcher to join their cutting-edge research and development team in Middlesbrough. This is a full-time, ongoing temporary role offering hands-on experience with some of the most advanced analytical technologies in the sector.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering innovative research projects that support decarbonisation, circular economy initiatives, and advanced materials development across heavy industry.

• Operating high-spec analytical equipment including SEM, XRD, XRF, OES, and TGA
• Preparing and analysing material samples with precision and care
• Interpreting data, supporting technical teams, and ensuring quality across results
• Taking ownership of equipment upkeep, safety, and user training protocols

• A background in materials science, chemistry, physics, or a related field
• Experience operating laboratory instrumentation (SEM, XRD, XRF, or similar)
• Someone proactive, detail-driven, and passionate about scientific discovery
• A strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative research environment
