GENERAL PURPOSE

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, keep the store clean, and execute company operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone and reports any unsafe conditions.
  • Responsible for building security including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area security.
  • Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensures customer safety by preventing and reporting accidents.
  • Tests all fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treats all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times and recognizes Associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and ensures Associates adhere to the company dress code.
  • Keeps all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards.
  • Receives merchandise truck when needed and processes all merchandise with urgency.
  • Receives all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Advances merchandise to the sales floor after processing.
  • Secures and processes back‑stock per company policy.
  • Marries department merchandising, loss prevention, and floor presentation guidelines.
  • Manages floor moves, promotional signing, and re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a strong customer service presence.
  • Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Maintains the Public View Monitor system and conducts “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Executes all company best practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensures Associates follow company standards at the front end.
  • Maintains pace and presence at the front end, managing lines to expedite customer wait time.
  • Trains and coaches Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and front‑end procedures.
  • Controls retail associate break schedules for backups, lunches, and breaks.
  • Ensures all equipment is working properly and maintains supplies for the front end.
  • Escalates go‑backs, scans, tags, and tickets them properly and teaches “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Ensures salability of merchandise on the front end and in specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintains cleanliness of fitting rooms.
  • Audits garment tags and ensures possession per company policy.
  • Ensures go‑back compliance and that all merchandise returned to the floor is ticketed, scanned, nubbed, and tagged.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
  • Ensures cash pulls and bank deposits follow company policy.
  • Controls front end when needed and follows retail policies for refunds, approvals, and cash handling.
  • Handles payroll administration, including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and reporting.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the store manager.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
