Positioning Operator - DPO

WORKING ON DP-VESSELS AS 1ST OFFICER AT ESVAGT

At ESVAGT, you will be employed as 1. Officer on a grp 1, MPSV or SOV vessel. There is no direct employment as Chief Officer or Captain. You can read about the different types of vessels here.

Working as 1. Officer is very independent. Most of the vessels have a three-watch system, where the 1. Officer is on night watch. The work will vary, but one of the areas of responsibility is to ensure that fire- and safety equipment on board is maintained and renewed according to the instructions along with ordering sufficient supplies for this.

In addition, the 1. Officer is responsible for supervising the ship’s navigational equipment as well as route planning prior to sailing.

Your level of ambition, your personal effort and the quality of your work are decisive for your opportunities in relation to being promoted to a higher rank or other ship groups.

• Certificate of Competency as Mate on Merchant Ships
• DP unlimited
• Valid health certificate for seafarers and passport
• GMDSS (GOC) certificate
• Certificate of Medical Care on board ships equipped with ship’s medicine chest A
• Basic safety, Firefighting for ship officers and Firefighting in ships
• Capability of communicating both writing and speaking in English and Danish
• Clean drug test (zero tolerance for narcotics and alcohol on board)
• You must be able to show a criminal record that is not older than 3 months

• Can communicate clearly and distinctly to the rest of the crew
• Can communicate orally and in writing in Danish and English
• Can delegate responsibilities and follow up on tasks
• Can work independently but also be a team player who can see and use the strengths of colleagues in any situation
• Want to learn new things and constantly evolve – not only yourself, but also help your colleagues develop their work
• Can sail four weeks in a row (2 men share a position)

• Experience with either SOV, MPSV or Multi-Role vessels

• Four weeks signed on followed by four weeks off
