Job SummaryProvides security for patients, employees, and visitors; protects hospital building, assets, and premises as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs, with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.
- Familiar with hospital environment and previous experience as Security Officer is preferred.
- Ability to understand and fulfill safety regulations, security procedures, and hospital/department policies and procedures acquired through on-the-job training.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field.
- Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
- Exposure to dangers of assaults/hazards from investigating alarms.
- Driver's License (Required)

- Patrol hospital building and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
- Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
- Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
- Respond to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students, and visitors.
- Escort personnel to parking lots and hospital building.
- Participate in investigations; maintain records and prepare incident reports and other documents pertaining to security activities.
- Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities.
- Secure patient valuables or lost and found articles; maintain logs of items received.
- Control parking and traffic flow; enforce parking regulations.
- Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, support quality assessment and performance improvement processes, adhere to safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient ranging from newborn to geriatric.
- Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
