Welding Technician - WV Turnpike Authority - Raleigh CO.

Hourly Wage: $17.4880 - $25.3530 per hour, eligible for overtime, based on experience.

The employee will answer directly to the Fleet Manager. In this role, the technician must perform at a proficiency level in the field of welding. The technician is responsible for leading, guiding, and training apprentice technicians, planning, laying out, and supervising the work of skilled and unskilled workers.

• Welding and brazing of mild steel.
• Use of diesel‑powered welder, electrical welders, aluminum/MIG welder, plasma torch, track torch, and band saw.
• Use of boom of welding truck.
• Operation of Parkways Radio.
• Forms (operations daily report, work & purchase orders).
• Light torches and set gauges.

• Change hydraulic hoses.

• Replace hydraulic hoses.
• Replace pumps.
• Replace spinner wheel.
• Replace auger.
• Replace snow blades.
• Replace caster wheels/assemblies.
• Replace plow jack.

• Flagging and various other duties for maintenance and upkeep of small equipment such as mowers, lawn mowers, and weed eaters.
• Any other duties as assigned.

• HS Diploma or GED.
• Must possess a CDL Class B license.
• Must pass a background check.
• Completion of an apprenticeship and at least 3 years of experience in the welding field.
• Certified by the WV Department of Education of Vocational Technical Adult Education for successful completion of the WV Welding Certification Test.
