Job Description
The Army National Guard uses a wide range of systems that help protect and serve the force, and as a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer, you’ll be in charge of making sure those systems keep running at peak performance. You will support the maintenance of chemical decontamination equipment and quartermaster machinery, training to maintain laundry and bath equipment, pumps, engines, burners, filter units, and water purification units.
Your work will contribute to maintaining special purpose equipment, decontamination and protective filter systems, smoke generator systems, and chemical electrical systems.
Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to pursue a civilian career in marine transportation, commercial fishing, oil exploration, or oil drilling industries, and potentially become a marine engine mechanic. You’ll earn a paycheck while receiving paid training, qualifying for tuition assistance. After 10 weeks of Basic Training, you will attend 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) that includes hands‑on and classroom instruction on marine engine maintenance, internal combustion engine theory, and use and care of hand and power tools.

- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
