About the RoleAs a Diesel Mechanic at WM, you will maintain and repair trucks and equipment that serve over 20 million customers across the USA. Your work helps support local communities by keeping vehicles operational. You will use modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on diesel equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.
Responsibilities- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles—ensuring the safety of every employee and the public is our top priority.
- Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Assist senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete and pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing.
- Constantly standing, walking, and grasping; occasional sitting and balancing.
- Exposure to ordinary occupational risks such as cuts, burns, and exposure to toxic chemicals.
- Exposure to environmental elements such as dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, heat, and humidity, both inside and outside the shop.
The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $25 per hour. Salary may be influenced by relevant experience, education, training, certification, and work location.

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with no weekend work. The primary setting is a repair/maintenance shop at our Pecks Mill, WV, hauling site.
