Compensation: $74,290.99 - $ annually
Position SummaryRamsey County is seeking Senior Social Workers to provide advanced social work services across multiple service areas, including Child Protection, Adult Protection, and Aging & Disability Services. This role supports individuals, families, vulnerable adults, and children by assessing needs, developing service plans, coordinating resources, providing consultation, and supporting culturally responsive practices.
Current opportunities may include supporting Child Protection staff with active efforts under the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and the Minnesota African American Family Preservation and Child Welfare Disproportionality Act (MAAFPCWDA), conducting Adult Protection assessments and investigations, or completing MnCHOICES assessments for individuals who are aging or have disabilities. This position plays an important role in promoting safety, family preservation, equity, and positive outcomes for Ramsey County residents.
Key Responsibilities- Interview individuals, families, and related parties to assess service needs.
- Evaluate individual and family functioning and develop appropriate case plans.
- Assess risk of harm and take action to protect vulnerable adults, children, or families.
- Investigate reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
- Coordinate referrals and connect clients with county and community resources.
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency support referrals.
- Prepare case documentation, social histories, court reports, and service plans.
- Monitor client progress and determine continuation or termination of services.
- Provide counseling, therapeutic intervention, and problem-solving support.
- Consult with county staff, service providers, tribal representatives, and community partners.
- Support culturally responsive practice and equity-focused service delivery.
- Provide training, consultation, and guidance to coworkers and service providers.
- Maintain accurate case records and required documentation.
- Represent the department in committees, community meetings, and court proceedings when needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a social or behavioral science, or equivalent.
- 23 additional credits or 230 continuing education hours in fields related to social work.
- Five years of social work experience or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in Social Work may substitute for two years of experience.
- Master’s degree in a related social or behavioral science may substitute for one year of experience.
- Strong assessment, case planning, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse individuals, families, and community partners.
- Ability to manage complex cases, competing priorities, and sensitive situations.
Unofficial transcripts must be uploaded for consideration.
- Experience in child protection, adult protection, disability services, or aging services.
- Knowledge of ICWA, MAAFPCWDA, MnCHOICES, or Home and Community Based Services.
- Experience conducting assessments, investigations, or service planning.
- Strong understanding of culturally responsive and equity-centered practice.
- Experience working with courts, tribal representatives, community agencies, or multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to provide consultation, training, and guidance to other professionals.
