Nature of Work
Under general supervision, the Corrections Case Manager will serve as a member of a team providing services to an assigned caseload of inmates in a correctional facility. The role focuses on overall management of inmates, ensuring their needs are met, and may involve individual and/or group counseling. The Case Manager may assist in developing and implementing treatment programs, creating case histories, gathering collateral information on placement, treatment, and court information, writing reports and recommendations regarding inmate behavior, placement, and performance for circuit courts, controlling inmate movement, and serving as a liaison between the inmate and facility, legal representatives, family members, treatment providers, and court officials.
The position may perform other duties as assigned.
Training:
- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling, criminology, social work, or a related field.
- Experience in an area of corrections programming or treatment may substitute for the required training on a year‑for‑year basis.
- A Master’s Degree in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or a related behavioral science field may substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Five years of experience at the Correctional Officer II or higher may substitute for both required training and experience.
Experience:
- Two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in inmate counseling, security, or treatment in a correctional setting, or in counseling, probation and parole, mental health counseling, or social work.
