School Counselor
A professional school counselor who develops, delivers, and maintains a data driven, comprehensive developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.
Performance responsibilities include delivering guidance curriculum, providing direct and indirect services to students, obtaining and disseminating occupational information, organizing orientation programs, providing individual and group counseling, assisting in scheduling and screening of students, coordinating follow-up reports, providing crisis intervention, working to prevent students from dropping out, coordinating referrals to pupil services and community agencies, consulting with teachers, staff, and parents, coordinating guidance and counseling activities, interpreting test results, providing information about financial aid, using and analyzing student data, collecting and analyzing counseling program data, devoting no more than 25% of the workday to administrative duties, attending required in-service programs, staying current through professional development, sharing expertise with staff, demonstrating punctuality and dependability, and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include a valid master's degree in guidance and counseling, holding or being eligible for a West Virginia Service Certificate in Guidance and Counseling, passing a criminal background check, and meeting physical demands and work environment requirements.
