Location: Holden
Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the Correctional Counselor 1 will be a member of a team providing services to an assigned caseload of inmates within the facility. The work consists of providing a variety of services to the inmate population. Duties may vary by job function or area of specialization based on the program being administered. Areas of responsibility include assisting the unit Correctional Officer with security duties, providing vocational education, substance‑abuse education, assisting with recreational services, offering crisis intervention on the unit, guiding inmates, assisting with risk assessments, classification, and diagnostic evaluations.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Minimum qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling (including guidance), criminology, social work, education, therapeutic recreation, or a closely related field.
- Experience in corrections or related fields may be substituted for the required training on a year‑for‑year basis.
