The successful candidate will join a strong Early Head Start team to provide and facilitate the receipt of quality support services for program families in Morgan County
. This role requires a positive attitude and the ability to work within a team. It also includes mentorship and program leadership responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree (BA) in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or related fields.
- Must have a current driver's license and reliable automobile for transportation.
- Must have knowledge of local human services available.
- Must be organized and able to manage confidential electronic data and reports.
- Must be willing to participate in college courses and/or professional development to increase knowledge of early childhood and social services.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with expectant mothers and/or the families of infants and toddlers.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual or multilingual.
Essential Duties:
- Assist Specialists and Managers in the areas of social services, parent involvement, health, mental health, and nutrition.
- Recruit eligible Early Head Start children on an ongoing basis to ensure complete enrollment.
- Ensure that required documentation for enrollment is complete and accurate.
- Submit reports to supervisor in a timely manner as required.
- Develop and submit county information for parent newsletter.
- Complete Family Outcomes Assessments and Family Partnership Agreements with enrolled families using a strengths-based perspective. Follow up on needs and goals as needed within specified timelines.
- Refer situations of suspected child abuse or neglect, domestic violence, and substance abuse to the Early Head Start Manager/Specialist in addition to reporting to the proper authorities.
- Assist in maintaining and compiling non-federal share (In-Kind) records.
- Work with community social services and health care agencies under the direction of the Managers/Specialists.
- Prepare and maintain child health record and tracking with assistance of other staff.
- Work closely with parents to ensure that all children receive medical and dental examinations, and that follow-up care is provided and tracked for Early Head Start children.
- Conduct a minimum of 10 regular visits per month to meet social services and health needs.
- Request, monitor, purchase, and deliver supplies.
- Assist with socializations and childcare at parents' events.
- Facilitate transportation for adults to and from program and community events.
- Collaborate with other EHS/HS staff to compile and maintain children's files and to forward records as requested.
- Coordinate networking opportunities to increase collaborations.
- Transport children/families via program van to approved appointments.
- Develop and facilitate parent meetings.
- Train and mentor newly hired Family Advocate staff in any of the three counties.
- Facilitate staffing and file triages, taking the lead position, within county.
- Maintain an up-to-date resource file.
- Participate in collaborative community groups.
- Assist with related duties as assigned and required.
- Assist families in the Family Partnership Agreement process, which includes identification of family strengths, goals, and resources to meet their needs.
