Position: Counselor for Residential Facility
Location: Point Pleasant

Hope For Tomorrow seeks a Counselor for our residential facility serving children and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges. In this role, you will provide trauma-informed individual and group counseling, complete assessments, and create treatment plans that promote safety, growth, and resilience. You will collaborate with a compassionate, multidisciplinary team, support crisis intervention, and maintain clear documentation. This position is ideal for mission-driven professionals eager to grow while making a direct, meaningful impact in a supportive nonprofit environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to youth in the residential facility using trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment and behavior support plans
  • Collaborate with residential staff, case managers, families, and external providers to coordinate care
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and reports in accordance with agency and regulatory standards
  • Conduct intake assessments, risk assessments, and crisis intervention as needed
  • Facilitate psycho educational and life-skills groups to support emotional and social development
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and staff trainings
  • Support a safe, therapeutic environment by modeling positive behavior and de-escalation techniques
  • Communicate progress, concerns, and recommendations to families and relevant stakeholders
  • Adhere to ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards in all counseling activities
