THE TEAM

Workplace Solutions Engineering (WSE) is a core engineering function responsible for modernizing how work is executed across Goldman Sachs using Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and adjacent workplace technologies.

WSE operates as the single front door for workplace solution architecture and modernization, sitting at the intersection of technology, product, and business. The team focuses on designing scalable, secure, and compliant execution patterns that enable business teams to move faster without increasing operational or regulatory risk.

THE ROLE

As a Solutions Engineer, you will act as a technical authority and trusted advisor, shaping end‑to‑end solution architectures that enable Goldman Sachs employees to work more effectively while meeting the firm’s high standards for security, resilience, and regulatory compliance. You will drive clarity in complex environments, influence architectural decisions without direct authority, and help standardize patterns that scale across the firm.

As a Solutions Engineer in WSE, you will work closely with business partners, engineering teams, and risk stakeholders to design and deliver production‑ready, governed solutions, with a focus on workflow orchestration, identity‑aware execution, and modernization of legacy desktop‑coupled processes.

This is a hands‑on role for a seasoned technologist who thrives in ambiguity, understands enterprise platforms deeply, and can translate business needs into durable technical solutions.

We are seeking highly collaborative, creative and intellectually curious engineers who are passionate about forming and building on top of the premier cloud platforms. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast‑paced Agile environment and be able to collaborate with a highly technical team of engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide solution architecture and hands‑on engineering support for workplace modernization initiatives.
  • Design and guide implementation of workflow‑oriented solutions involving approvals, routing, exception handling, and cross‑system integration.
  • Modernize legacy desktop‑coupled workflows into web‑native or cloud‑orchestrated execution patterns.
  • Define and apply enterprise patterns for identity, entitlements, approvals, audit evidence, and operational readiness.
  • Partner with engineering, Cloud Desktop, Identity, Security, and Risk teams to meet firm standards.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews, providing clear trade‑off analysis.
  • Contribute to reference architectures, templates, and reusable patterns.
  • Support Cloud Desktop and Office upgrade initiatives by reducing endpoint dependencies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and act as a technical role model.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of experience in solutions engineering, software engineering, or enterprise systems engineering within a high‑paced IT environment.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft/Office 365 Suite, Azure AD and Exchange Online.
  • Experience with configuring, deploying and managing Office 365 workloads for Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong understanding of M365 and Windows 365, server and cloud platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience with Power Platform, particularly Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Knowledge of Authentication, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and Conditional Access Policies.
  • Solid understanding of Windows administration and Power Shell scripting.
  • Experience analyzing Microsoft/Office 365 usage data to identify issues and usage patterns.
  • Knowledge and experience of software development lifecycle and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling, such as Cloud Formation, Terraform, CDK or Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in designing, developing, and testing software in one or more of Python, Java, Groovy, or golang; open to using and learning multiple languages.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the overall product and the success of the business, not just the infrastructure under your direct control.
  • Ability to understand and effectively debug both new and existing solutions.
  • Ability to reason about performance, security, and process interactions in complex distributed systems.
  • Experience with version control, continuous integration, deployment, and configuration…
