Overview
WVU Potomac State College Athletics is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Head Wrestling Coach.
About The Opportunity
The Head Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and administering all aspects of the Potomac State College Men’s Wrestling program in accordance with WVU, Potomac State College, NJCAA, and Athletic Department policies. The Head Coach will also assist the Director of Athletics in supporting the overall mission and success of the Athletics Department.
Responsibilities- Provide overall leadership, direction, and supervision for all aspects of the men’s wrestling program.
- Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices consistent with the philosophy and mission of the Athletic Department.
- Coach and manage the team during practice, competitions, and travel.
- Recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified student-athletes who will represent Potomac State College with integrity on and off the mat.
- Promote academic success by monitoring student-athlete progress and supporting academic achievement and graduation.
- Ensure compliance with all NJCAA, WVU, Potomac State College, and Athletic Department rules, regulations, and policies.
- Manage the program budget responsibly, including equipment, travel, and other program needs.
- Recruit, oversee, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches and student staff.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, accountability, and personal growth and aligns with WVU core values.
- Organize and participate in community service events that support both the college and local community.
- Coordinate and manage youth camps, clinics, and outreach events throughout the year.
- Drive student-athletes in college vehicles to practices, games, and other approved activities as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Work Hours: 15 hours per week
Assignment Length: 10 months
Qualifications- Bachelor’s or equivalent relevant coaching experience (4 years)
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience involving:
- Coaching or wrestling competitively at collegiate level
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
- Basic knowledge of the following computer programs:
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook - Basic knowledge of social media and recruiting platforms.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to complete tasks that have set deadlines.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
