Shift times: 6:30 A.M. – 9:30 A.M.; 1:00 P.M. – 4:30 P.M.
Total A.M. & P.M. time: 6.5 hrs.
Compensation: $18.00/hour

TITLE: VAN DRIVER
QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 21 years old with a minimum of two years of driving experience.
- Physically qualified (rule of the Administrative Code).
- Completion of semi‑annual driver record checks through the Ohio Department of Education, with records maintained for a minimum of six years.
- Disqualified if: (1) more than six points in the last two years; (2) conviction of driving while under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance in the last ten years; (3) two or more serious traffic violations in the past two years; or (4) any railroad crossing violation in the past year.
- Holding a van driver certification from ODEW and the Logan‑Hocking School District.
- Completed van pre‑service and in‑service training.
- Good attendance.
- Physically capable of safely lifting and managing preschool and special needs children when necessary.
- Participation in drug and alcohol testing.
- Maintaining eligibility of insurance coverage of the school district fleet insurance carrier.
CONTRACT STATUS
: 9 months
TIME SCHEDULE
:
As required by van route assigned and/or supervisor
- Drive vans punctually on regularly scheduled routes.
- Inspect van daily as required and log accordingly.
- Report van defects to mechanics on the work order form.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Develop and enforce student‑seating charts.
- Maintain and report all discipline incidents in an appropriate manner.
- Assist as needed with handicapped students.
- Promote positive public relations.
- Operate vans only for approved school functions.
- Report all accidents and complete all required reports.
- Request service for vehicles at least two (2) days in advance of the scheduled maintenance.
- Transport only authorized students to and from board‑approved van stops and routes.
- Fuel vehicle as required by operational regulations.
- Perform student check and check van condition following each route.
- Perform any other duties and regulations requested and required to expedite the transportation program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
