Starting Date: Immediately

Salary Range: Putnam County Schools Service Annual Salary based on experience and education level per Putnam County Board of Education salary schedule.

The School Bus Operator is responsible for operating school buses and other transportation vehicles as provided by the West Virginia Board of Education.

• Operate school buses and transportation vehicles safely.
• Assist passengers with boarding and disembarkation.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and ensure vehicle maintenance.
• Adhere to all state, federal, and local transportation regulations.
• Follow the daily schedule and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure the safety and security of all passengers.

• High school diploma or GED or TASC.
• Commercial Driver’s License, Class B, with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
• Three years of experience as a licensed driver.
• Passes required physical examination.
• Passes Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record Check.
• Passes Drug/Alcohol Screening.
• Completes 40 hours of required classroom training and 20 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• West Virginia School Bus Operator’s Certificate.

Length of Employment: 200 days

Schedule:

Pre-Trip – 15 minutes prior to pull-out time (AM only)

Pull-Out Time (AM): 6:15 – 8:00

Pull-Out Time (PM): 2:45 – 4:45

Post-Trip – 15 minutes; closing day 4:00 pm.
