Role Description

The Senior Quality Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of the bank’s commercial lending portfolio. This position supports the Vice President of Commercial Lending Operations by leading quality assurance reviews, validating regulatory reporting data, coordinating efforts for internal compliance exams, and strengthening overall operational controls across the Commercial Lending Operations department. The Senior Quality Analyst will act as a subject matter expert (SME) in regulatory validation (HMDA, CRA) and quality review standards, while also assisting in cross-training and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Quality

Assurance & File Review
  • Review & sign off on closing checklists, loan funding summaries and outgoing wires as necessary to ensure all loans are closed within the specifications of approvals.
  • Perform comprehensive quality control reviews of closed commercial loans prior to boarding, including C&I, CRE, construction, and SBA transactions.
  • Verify documentation accuracy, collateral perfection, lien positions, insurance compliance, and adherence to internal policy and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and document errors, root causes, and trends; recommend process enhancements to reduce rework and improve quality ratios.
  • Maintain and report quality metrics and defect ratios to the VP of Commercial Lending Operations and departmental leadership.
Regulatory Data Validation
  • Lead HMDA and CRA data integrity testing for all commercial-originated loans, ensuring proper collection, coding, and submission accuracy.
  • Conduct periodic HMDA/CRA scrub testing as needed
Internal Compliance & Audit Support
  • Coordinate with internal compliance partners to provide population reporting, required evidence & mitigation strategies as needed. Including but not limited to CIP/CDD documentation, beneficial ownership, flood, adverse action & regulation B procedural adherence.
  • Serve as a liaison during internal and external audits, coordinating documentation, responses, and corrective action plans.
  • Track and validate completion of audit findings and remediation efforts.
Cross-Training & Operational Support
  • Cross-train across all key Commercial Lending Operations functions—including booking, QC, post-closing, and appraisal management—to ensure department-wide coverage and continuity.
  • Serve as a backup resource to operational team members as needed during periods of absence or increased volume.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of procedural guides, checklists, and training materials to support consistent operational execution.
  • Provide comprehensive oversight of department workflow by leading weekly meetings, identifying areas of capacity and reallocating workload as needed.
  • Act as secondary resource to execute operational tasks related to loan closings, appraisal management & portfolio actions as needed.
  • Partner with department leadership to enhance workflows and strengthen data quality controls.
  • Assist with special projects, system upgrades, and process efficiency initiatives.
  • Generate periodic management reports summarizing QC findings, compliance exceptions, and progress toward quality improvement goals.
Qualifications
  • 5 + Years in banking experience (preferably in a commercial lending operations environment)
  • Working knowledge of lending regulations
