Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Polymer Materials Scientist to join our technical team supporting the development, characterization, and application of polymer-based products. This role involves close collaboration with senior scientists, application engineers, and customers to evaluate material performance, support product customization, and solve application‑specific challenges. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in polymer science and materials characterization and enjoys hands‑on laboratory work combined with real‑world problem solving.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailed testing and characterization of polymer materials under relevant usage and environmental conditions (thermal, mechanical, electrical, chemical).
- Develop, refine, and document test methods utilizing a variety of laboratory instrumentation.
- Evaluate structure–property–performance relationships for existing polymer products.
- Modify or optimize existing products to meet customer‑specific performance or processing requirements.
- Work directly with customers and internal teams to support product evaluations, trials, and application‑specific testing.
- Accurately maintain laboratory notebooks, test records, and experimental documentation.
- Perform statistical data analysis and prepare clear technical summaries and reports.
- Assist in preparing technical data packages, application notes, and internal documentation.
- Support scale‑up and manufacturing teams by providing materials performance insight and test data as needed.
- MS or Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong background in polymer chemistry and/or polymer physics.
- Solid foundation in materials science and physical property characterization.
- Hands‑on experience with polymer and materials characterization techniques (e.g., thermal, mechanical, rheological, adhesion testing).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting customer‑driven product development or technical service.
- Familiarity with adhesives, coatings, films, or specialty polymer materials.
- Experience working in regulated or quality‑controlled laboratory environments.
