Job Overview
The role supports the identification, development, and implementation of business opportunities for advancing the Clean Technologies group and the Gas Business Unit in all areas of gas decarbonization and clean technologies. The focus is on researching and vetting decarbonization and clean gas technology opportunities, building business cases for pilots or projects based on agreed metrics with Clean Technologies management and key stakeholders.
The incumbent will coordinate with electric and gas units, as well as other Eversource organizations, to assist with comprehensive planning, provide support for shareholder and investor messaging, regulatory filings, and external stakeholder discussions, and collaborate to advance gas business unit and company goals.
- Maintain familiarity with current and upcoming decarbonization technologies through market research.
- Develop business plans including financial analysis and resource requirements to support proposed initiatives.
- Present plans to senior management for approval.
- Implement initiatives related to clean technologies projects and business development.
- Monitor and track results of program activities; provide recommendations for modifications or corrections.
- Set goals, develop strategies and schedules to meet objectives; anticipate obstacles and devise alternative strategies.
- Work with all required functions to ensure timely and sound decisions under risk and uncertainty.
- Perform financial, economic, and policy analysis to evaluate opportunities for new and existing programs.
- Interface with corporate functions (Enterprise Planning, Operations, Regulatory, Legal, Governmental Affairs, Communications, etc.) during program development and implementation.
- Investigate opportunities to combine and leverage new and existing programs.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with the gas organization, Eversource departments, and outside agencies to build and maintain relationships that promote program initiatives and achieve results.
- Assist in special bids with Procurement to secure appropriate consultants for concepts and technologies.
- Develop project scope, review bids, and recommend contractor selection to management.
- Coordinate with the electric business unit to identify strategic locations for deploying concepts or technologies.
- Interact with Regulatory Affairs, Rates, Environmental Affairs, and Energy Efficiency to develop concept plans as needed.
- Prepare support filings required for regulators (MA Department of Public Utilities / CT PURA) and other agencies.
- Represent Eversource Gas at public meetings, regulatory hearings, town hall meetings, and special meetings.
- Assist with stakeholder outreach meetings and discussions on concepts and technologies.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to solicit input, involvement, and provide education on concepts and technologies.
- Ensure all concepts and technologies are vetted consistently with company safety and procurement policies and programs.
- Interface with internal customers and outside organizations and agencies both during and outside normal business hours.
- May involve occasional travel.
- Ability to develop and present reports within the organization and communicate effectively.
- Strong computer and analytical skills; expert knowledge in computer and financial analysis.
- Project management experience required; ability to make timely decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective communication of complex technical concepts to internal and external audiences.
- Highly developed interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to assemble and direct effective teams.
- Ability to solve problems and respond to evolving situations.
- Working knowledge of computer software programs (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Expert knowledge in financial analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Zero (0) to three (3) years of experience in economic analysis, project management, or business development.
