Job DescriptionWestborough High School, Westborough, MA, seeks a Spring Outdoor Track & Field Coach to join our Athletic Department for the 2026 Season. The Westborough Public Schools seek professionals who are excited to join a high-performing district where academic excellence, equity and wellness are our core values.

Qualifications- NFHS/MIAA Coaches Ed Certification: must have or obtain within the first year of employment.
- Sport-Specific Knowledge: knowledge of current methodology, rules, and tactics of the sport.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
Preferred Experience:
- Bilingual skills, especially Spanish and Portuguese, desirable
- Experience in diverse public school settings
- Experience supporting students with all levels of talent and desire
- Prior playing/coaching experience
- A passion for working with students, families/caregivers, and colleagues
- Flexibility and collaboration
- Belief in growth mindset for students and self
- CORI and Fingerprinting: CORI/SAFIS background check per 603 CMR 51.00
CENTRAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
- Focus on fitness center supervision for strength and conditioning, athlete rehab on non-meet practice days, and assist in running meets during competition days.
- Use sound and acceptable coaching techniques in all phases of the program
- Organize safe and effective practice sessions
- Establish a working rapport with the program head coach and the Athletic Director/Principal
- Adhere to district and school policies regarding the athletics department
- Model good sportsmanship and enforce respectful behavior among players at all times
- Communicate personal and program expectations to the team and individual players
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the coaching assignment
- Model personal growth by seeking opportunities for self-improvement
- Supervise athletes in all athletic settings, including on buses, in locker rooms, and at away locations
- Assist in management and monitoring of all program equipment
- Establish effective communication protocols for parents/guardians and students
- Attend pre-season meetings
The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person and on the telephone. The employee must be able to see and hear on a continuous basis to ensure the safety of students and provide instruction. The employee will be working in a normal school athletic environment with an acceptable level of noise. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
