Job Description
NFI Massachusetts, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher
- High School Mathematics to provide academic instruction and individualized educational services to students within a Department of Mental Health Intensive funded Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) in Westborough, MA. This position supports students with complex emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs within a structured therapeutic environment while ensuring compliance with DESE and IDEA regulations.
- Provide individualized and small group mathematics instruction aligned with Massachusetts Mathematics Curriculum Frameworks
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications
- Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to support diverse learning profiles
- Utilize trauma‑informed, culturally responsive, and evidence‑based instructional practices
- Integrate social‑emotional learning and executive functioning supports into instruction
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment
- Support students during periods of emotional and behavioral dysregulation using therapeutic and crisis‑management strategies
- Participate in crisis prevention and intervention training and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student stabilization
- Participate in IEP meetings, treatment planning, and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and required DESE documentation
- Collaborate with families, school districts, clinical providers, and residential staff to support student success
Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000
Full‑time, based on a 190‑day school‑year position with optional ESY opportunities
Small class sizes with multidisciplinary team support
Specialized school setting within a secure DMH IRTP program
Reports directly to the Special Education Coordinator
Job Requirements- Massachusetts DESE Special Education Teacher License
- Moderate Disabilities (5-12) required - Massachusetts DESE Licensure in High School Mathematics required
- Strong knowledge of Massachusetts Mathematics Curriculum Frameworks
- Experience working with students with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to trauma‑informed and therapeutic educational practices
