Job Description

Westborough Public Schools is seeking a Long‑Term Substitute Assistant Principal to join our administrative team at Westborough High School for the 2026‑2027 school year (August 17 through December 23, 2026). Job Summary

The High School Assistant Principal will assist the principal in promoting and advancing education for all students.

Duties include:

  • Working directly with students to meet their needs and support development
  • Leading, directing, counseling, and supervising personnel and programs
  • Creating effective parent, teacher, and child communications
  • Supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and evaluating staff
  • Fostering collaboration among teachers, staff, and parents
Responsibilities

Student Supervision:

  • Monitoring and interacting with students and families regarding academic, social, and emotional issues
  • Developing and enforcing student behavior policies and assisting teachers with discipline
  • Participating in the team evaluation process
  • Supervising student activity programs, field trips, and other school activities as necessary

Staff Supervision:

  • Supervising, directing, and evaluating staff in partnership with the Principal and district coordinators
  • Planning and facilitating staff development activities
  • Collaborating with staff on problem‑solving school issues
  • Coordinating substitute coverage

Administration:

  • Assisting with student schedule preparation
  • Interpreting and enforcing district and school policies
  • Overseeing the school safety plan implementation
  • Coordinating state and district testing administration
  • Representing the Principal in their absence
  • Engaging in professional development and meeting licensure recertification expectations
  • Supporting counselors and support staff with intervention support
  • Participating in faculty and committee meetings as required
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the building principal
Qualifications
  • Active DESE license for Principal/Assistant Principal grades 9‑12
  • SEI Endorsement for Administrators
  • Leadership skills with the ability to support and motivate others to meet high performance standards
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience, and experience leading school‑based groups or initiatives
Preferred Experience
  • Experience as a school administrator
  • Experience working in a diverse public school setting with English Language Learners
  • Experience working with special education students with a wide range of academic, social, and emotional needs
Education

Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field (preferred).

Hiring Requirements
  • Successful completion of CORI, SORI, and fingerprinting
