Westborough High School seeks a talented part‑time (2 courses/0.4 FTE) Natural Science and Engineering/STEM teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. Courses to be taught include two Natural Science & Engineering classes for grade 9 students.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a related field.
- Certification: MA DESE license in 9‑12 Science; SEI endorsement; additional special education and/or ESL certification is desirable.
- Specialized Knowledge: Adolescent development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti‑bias instruction, co‑teaching, social‑emotional learning, technology integration.
- Background Checks: All appointments are conditional on satisfactory CORI, SORI, and safety checks.
- Teaching English language learners in a diverse public school setting.
- Experience with students with special needs, including emotional, behavioral, or learning challenges.
- Strong background in science instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into lesson design.
- Experience with co‑teaching and technology integration is highly desirable.
- Create a welcoming, supportive, and equitable learning environment.
- Plan and implement differentiated lessons and ongoing formative assessments based on district objectives.
- Apply current research and theory to instructional design and maintain up‑to‑date content knowledge.
- Collaborate with team teachers, department colleagues, and specialists.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Integrate technology to enhance and extend student learning experiences.
- Demonstrate passion, flexibility, growth mindset, and collaboration.
- Provide learning experiences across science as guided by Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards.
- Monitor student understanding and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as needed.
- Evaluate and refine instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student learning and confidence.
- Participate in professional development and meet licensure recertification requirements.
- Attend faculty and committee meetings and district‑wide committees as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
The Science Teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff, except to direct any para‑educators who may be assigned to the classroom.
