Job DescriptionGibbons Middle School, Westborough, MA, seeks a talented Computer Science Teacher to join our Engineering & Computer Science Department beginning in the school year.

Job Title: Computer Science Teacher Reports to: Middle School Principal
Department: Science Department, grades 7-12
Work Year: 184 days, Unit A contracted days
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: Unit A Salary Scale
Job Goal: The Computer Science Teacher fosters a love of learning that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. The Middle School curriculum will focus on standards based, hands‑on units that will give students a solid grounding in coding and computer science concepts that will prepare them for continued work in the High School Computer Science department.
The Computer Science department is committed to providing comprehensive offerings that establish foundations for lifelong learning and empower students to be effective participants in a computerized, information‑rich society.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
- Professional Certification
Required:- MA DESE license in 7-12 Digital Literacy and Computer Science (or in process)
- SEI Endorsement preferred
- Specialized Knowledge: adolescent development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti‑bias instruction, co‑teaching, social‑emotional learning, technology integration
- CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.
- Experience teaching English Language Learners in a diverse public school setting
- Experience with students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
- Demonstrated skills in effectively and appropriately integrating technology into lesson design
- Highly desirable to have experience with:

- Previous training, experience and subject matter competence in a middle school digital literacy and computer science program, preferred.
- Create a welcoming, supportive, and equitable learning environment
- Plan and implement differentiated lessons and ongoing formative assessments based on district objectives and the abilities
- Apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional design with a demonstrated commitment to remain current in content knowledge
- Partner and collaborate with team teachers, department colleagues, and specialists
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
- Integrate technology in order to enhance and extend student learning experiences
- Monitor students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate
- Have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
- Be flexible, collaborative, and have a growth mindset for self and students
