We are a progressive non‑profit dedicated to providing personalized and engaging education to students in Department of Youth Services (DYS) programs across Massachusetts. We are seeking passionate and flexible educators to join our small but mighty team. Our students, placed in our care by the courts, have complex learning profiles and diverse backgrounds, but they are also budding artists, scientists, and future leaders eager to be seen and supported.

Salary Range: $59,203.00 - $81,804.00 Salary/year

Travel Percentage:

What You’ll Do
  • Teach small classes with an average of 5 students (maximum of 15 per program).
  • Provide a personalized curriculum to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with a team of special education, art, and vocational teachers.
  • Foster a compassionate and equitable learning environment.
Who We’re Looking For
  • A current Massachusetts secondary teacher licensure (8-12; 5-12), with a preference for Mathematics or Science certification.
  • Experience working with at‑risk youth is a plus.
  • Individuals seeking a career change or returning to teaching who are willing to obtain a certification are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University
  • Current Massachusetts secondary level teacher licensure (8‑12; 5‑12) in one or more of the following core content areas aligned to teaching assignment: e.g. Math, English/Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Reading.
  • Additional grade levels (5‑8) in the corresponding subject area is allowable for a duration of up to two years while the employee secures upper grade level certification.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle or method for attending trainings or other meetings as required at locations throughout the state.
  • Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement for core content teachers pursuant to ESE regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited College or University
  • Successful teaching experience with adolescents placed at‑risk.
Work Conditions
  • Ability to handle interruptions and maintain productivity.
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Skilled in working both independently and collaboratively.
  • May be subject to locked settings where the threat of verbal abuse and physical violence exists. Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Employees are expected to follow CES Workplace Safety Standards and DYS Workplace Safety Standards.
Terms of Employment
  • Full‑time, 185 day contract, CES/DYS School Calendar
  • Monday ‑ Friday, 8 hours/day
  • Salary Range: $59,203 to $81,804.
  • Starting salary will depend on level of licensure, education and experience.
  • Teachers are part of a bargaining unit represented by SEIU 509.
  • Benefits available as outlined in the CES Employee Handbook
