Overview
The role of Packaging Designer is to create packaging that surprises and delights Amazon's customers. The primary focus is to develop and support the scale of fiber-based packaging designs that meet or exceed customer expectations for product quality, while ensuring smooth supply chain performance, lowest total cost, and highest sustainability.
The candidate will work directly with program managers, automation/machinery development engineers, customer experience teams, and materials, machinery, and automation design experts. Located with the Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging team, this role collaborates to ensure Amazon s packaging is best in class through co-creation and optimization and to inform future automation investments with optimized packaging as a core tenet.
Key responsibilities- Directly develop prototype and test new packaging designs using Artios
CAD and Solid Works - Create visual renderings to communicate design intent to stakeholders
- Create detailed packaging specifications
- Produce reports on packaging performance
- Participate in or lead meetings to ensure developments meet benchmarks for customer experience, supply chain, and sustainability
- Travel to engage with customers, supply chain, labs, and vendors
Aligning Packaging Design within Amazon Robotics enables the development, deployment and scale of automated solutions across the Amazon Fulfillment Network, especially from Pick to SLAM for the Automated Robotics Sortable (ARS) network. The group works from customer insights to deliver solutions that integrate into brownfield and greenfield deployments with safety as a top priority. Sustainable Packaging solutions connect all parts of the Amazon Stores supply chain and customer experience, aiming to eliminate waste and transition from single-use plastics to curbside recyclable paper-based materials.
BasicQualifications
- Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
- 5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience
- Experience with design & innovation and research & development
- Experience in management of engineering design projects
- 5+ years of specialty (with progressive responsibility) experience
- Master s degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
- Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing

Compensationand Benefits
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
