Mechanical Engineer II, RDPI

Overview

Mechanical Engineer to design automated packaging platforms and supporting systems to enable faster and more efficient delivery. Responsible for technical ownership and refinement of packaging platforms and automation, in collaboration with Electrical and Controls teams to design and manufacture in-house packaging machinery.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to design and implement packaging machinery and automation projects
• Contribute to mechanical design work-streams, including modeling, load/bearing calculations, and 3D/2D design
• Ensure project documentation is complete and scalable for manufacturing
• Support safety certification of projects and platforms
• Participate in meetings to optimize customer experience, supply chain, and sustainability

Hardware Development Engineering operates in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment with software, controls, data science, reliability, and operations teams. Focused on design, prototyping, and development of packaging automation systems from concept to production-ready integrated systems. Work spans the product development lifecycle across fulfillment centers in North America and Europe, solving complex technical challenges and delivering scalable packaging solutions that impact sustainability, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

• 4+ years of mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience with prototyping and implementation
• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
• BA in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
• 4+ years packaging machinery development experience
• Proven experience in advanced motion control platforms (e.g., linear drives, multi-axis servo platforms, robotics)
• Proficiency in 3D design and simulation software

• Knowledge of Solid Works Simulation or Ansys FEA tools
• Experience in designing complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
• Knowledge of packaging machinery safety standards
• Operations and packaging materials/supply chain experience
• Advanced simulation and controls programming expertise
• Knowledge of patent processes

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package may include sign-on payments and RSUs. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
