About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join the Manufacturing Test and Controls Engineering (MTAC) team. In this role, you will help ensure products leave manufacturing facilities in a fully tested, validated, and production-ready state.

You will collaborate closely with Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to develop innovative test equipment and automation solutions supporting advanced manufacturing operations. This is an opportunity to take projects from concept through production deployment while working in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, prototype, and deploy mechanical test equipment used for validating subassemblies and top-level assemblies.
  • Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to define requirements and design considerations for test systems.
  • Execute projects from concept through production, including specifications, prototyping, testing, validation, and implementation.
  • Perform engineering analysis using hand calculations, modeling, and simulation tools.
  • Conduct static and dynamic mechanical analysis using FEA tools such as Ansys or Solid Works Simulation.
  • Design mechanical subsystems integrated with industrial automation components including motors, actuators, sensors, safety devices, and controls.
  • Create detailed engineering documentation including requirements, design specifications, drawings, validation reports, compliance documentation, and preventive maintenance plans.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate designs based on testing and operational feedback.
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts for deployed manufacturing test systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
  • Strong experience using Solid Works for mechanical design.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping methods and product development.
  • Experience with PLM systems and Solid Works PDM.
  • Strong engineering documentation and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite and commute to both North Reading, MA and Westborough, MA.

The salary for this position is between $75,000-$80,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
