Position Summary
Reporting to the Employee Relations Supervisor, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing HR service delivery to assigned store operations groups. This is a multi-disciplinary HR role which will focus on delivering services in the areas of employee relations, training, compensation, and will perform other project work as needed.
Responsibilities
Investigate highly complex employee relations and ADA accommodations cases from start-to-finish. Work with line management, provide advice (coaching & counseling), draft and at times deliver disciplinary action. Detail formal investigations in the company’s HR case management system regarding complaints on harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, hostile work environment, bullying, and more, ensuring that management actions are in compliance with appropriate Company policy, state, federal and local laws.
Cover other territories as needed.Provide guidance to line management on HR policies and procedures interpretation. Respond to questions from team members and management while adhering to the HR Service level agreements with Retail Field Management.Adjudicate background checks for respective territory, covering other areas as needed, adhering to all applicable laws and state specific analyses.Act as liaison between field leadership and company’s unemployment vendor, supporting leaders in responding to claims.As part of a cross-function HR project team, participate in the development of new HR programs, policies and resources to include HR cross-functional project teams.Responsible for monitoring compliance with appropriate state, federal and local laws and mitigating risk related to employment practices in order to avoid fines and penalties.Work closely with management personnel to understand business priorities. Perform tactical delivery of HR services and programs. Work with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to develop and deliver initiatives to meet unique business needs and support the delivery of company-wide HR services, programs, and initiatives.Deliver training on new HR processes, technology systems, and management practices and programs. Contribute to the development of new training programs and support new program roll-out initiatives.Other assigned duties as designated by management.Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.Working Relationships
All levels of store employees and leadership, HR COEs to include Benefits, Compensation, Training, HR Operations, as well as Legal, Risk Management, Health & Safety, IT, and more
Minimum Education Associates Degree with 2 or more years of HR Employee Relations work experience
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or other related discipline
Minimum Experience
2 years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on employee relations
Preferred Experience 5 years of HR experience supporting a retail business with HR employee relations and ADA accommodations
Licenses/Certifications
PHR required
