Description
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) seeks a dynamic Project Management Consultant (contracted) to support ongoing operations and drive critical initiatives within the Mental Health Information System (MHIS) team, part of the Mental Health Services (MHS) division.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex, high-impact projects, ensuring business continuity and the success of statewide initiatives.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese are a general summary and not all inclusive:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the DMH Central Office and the MHIS team for system-related development, implementation, and maintenance.
- Lead MHIS-related projects and initiatives.
- Oversee the development, planning, and implementation of DMH MHIS projects and key initiatives.
- Oversee daily MHIS business operations and maintenance; collaborate with MHS leadership to address challenges and support strategic planning.
- Demonstrated project management expertise with in-depth knowledge of MHIS applications and business operations
- Track record of successful project execution
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and business planning
- Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred, given the population served
Please note:
This is a time-limited, six-month contract position. 02/02/2026 - 08/02/2026. Contracts are renewable, subject to the Department approval, performance and allocation of funds.

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non‑management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
