Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting and financial reporting functions through preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, financial reporting support, and audit preparation. This position maintains the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger while contributing to timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous improvement of accounting processes. The Staff Accountant serves as an important member of the accounting team and will have the opportunity to develop technical accounting expertise while supporting a multi-entity organization.
This role is ideal for an accounting professional seeking to expand experience in financial reporting, month-end close, audit support, reconciliations, and operational accounting within a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. It offers significant exposure to financial reporting, month-end close, audit support, technical accounting, and multi-entity accounting operations, with long-term growth and development within the Finance & Accounting function.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and recurring accounting entries.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain assigned balance sheet ownership, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, intercompany accounts, and other assigned areas.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciling items.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of month-end close schedules and supporting close documentation.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities and reporting deadlines.
- Assist with financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Maintain documentation standards and support internal control processes.
- Support operational accounting activities, including cash posting, account maintenance, and related documentation to ensure accurate and timely financial records.
- Assist with accounting process improvement, documentation, and standardization initiatives.
- Collaborate with accounting team members to support cross-training, operational resiliency, and continuous improvement.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
- Experience supporting month-end close activities.
- Experience supporting financial reporting and account analysis.
- Experience working in a multi-entity environment.
- Experience supporting internal or external audits.
- Professional accounting certifications (CPA, CMA, CGMA, or equivalent) are a plus but not required.
