Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support daily financial operations for a team in Westbrook, Maine. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable handling both payables and receivables in a fast-paced setting. The role will focus on maintaining accurate records, processing invoices, and using accounting software to keep transactions current and well documented.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, verify supporting details, and enter payment information accurately into accounting systems.

- Manage outgoing payments and monitor due dates to help ensure timely completion of accounts payable activities.

- Record incoming customer payments, update account balances, and assist with routine accounts receivable follow-up.

- Perform high-volume data entry with close attention to accuracy, completeness, and proper coding.

- Use Quick Books to maintain financial records, track transactions, and support day-to-day bookkeeping tasks.

- Review invoice information for discrepancies, resolve basic issues, and keep documentation organized for audit readiness. Requirements - Experience handling accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks in an accounting or clerical environment.

- Proficiency with Quick Books and confidence working within accounting software platforms.

- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Ability to process invoices efficiently while maintaining organized financial records.

- Familiarity with standard accounting procedures, payment workflows, and reconciliation support.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
